[07:34:24] <girls> bill-auger: I don't quite understand. After upgrading the system, openssl-1.0 should not be linked anymore. And before upgrading the system, it should still be present. Your scenario sounds like it could only happen, if someone forgot to rebuild the intiramdisk or so ...

[08:49:30] <abaumann> I would not drop certain packges too, or we just make new versions of them like openssl10, openssl11..
[08:50:23] <abaumann> it's a tradeoff, keeping old binary packages which are still running (but don't rebuild) and introducing security issues by keeping old versions around (also contradicting the bleeding-edge character of Archlinux).
