[05:26:47] <abaumann> ERROR No module named 'packaging'
[05:27:07] <abaumann> trying to build python-packaging with python-bootstrap. This whole thing doesn't really work..
[05:47:12] <abaumann> https://gitlab.archlinux.org
[05:47:13] <phrik> Title: Update all bootstrapped packages to latest versions (!2) · Merge requests · Arch Linux / python-bootstrap · GitLab (at gitlab.archlinux.org)
[05:47:21] <abaumann> aha, maybe it works with those revisions
[05:49:59] <abaumann> ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pyproject_hooks'
[05:50:30] <abaumann> cool. all this talk about "reproducable builds" but nothing is documented or set up in a way so that somebody without deep Python knowhow (or a lot of work) can actually rebuild it.
[05:53:49] <abaumann> Every time I see a new building/installing module in Python which is supposed to be easy for users (or non-programmers), it is actually quite complicated for people bootstrapping, cross-compiling or whatever..

[07:02:10] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[07:02:10] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[07:02:11] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> anybody thought about producing less bloat instead of trying hard to compress bloat? ;-)

[09:02:58] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[09:02:58] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[09:02:59] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> 'any' not any. :-)
[09:03:34] <abaumann> ok, completely different approach, using python-pip-bootstrap to have a pip available, install all prerequisites with pip in for instance python-build-bootstrap..
[09:04:57] <abaumann> i486: Could not fetch URL https://pypi.org There was a problem confirming the ssl certificate: HTTPSConnectionPool(host='pypi.org', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /simple/pip/ (Caused by SSLError("Can't connect to HTTPS URL because the SSL module is not available.")) - skipping
[09:05:26] <abaumann> spendid, broken SSL support and remote downloading: two anti-patterns in one "alayws connected" and "encyrpt everything"

[16:39:14] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[16:39:14] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[16:39:15] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> they do all kind of weird stuff, nobody else does, because they are known not to work. :-)
[16:39:34] <abaumann> python-bootstrap has no python-packaging?
[16:39:54] <abaumann> I joined now branches and merge requests, some more base python packages are building.
[16:39:59] <abaumann> currently stuck in python-packaging
[16:47:05] <ConSiGno> I finally registered on the forums! I look forward to the gallium stuff for i915 *knocks on wood*
[16:49:06] <abaumann> welcome then :-)
[16:49:36] <abaumann> currently I have Python issues to attend to, not much meson/python builds without Python..
[16:50:06] <ConSiGno> I have a very strange situation, it might be better for the forums, but I've run into a very funny problem in that some of my software I use on WINE no longer runs properly, and it might be a kernel configuration issue. I'll search and if I don't find anything I'll make a topic about it
[16:50:15] <ConSiGno> oh goodness, hope you can get those build issues figured out :(
[16:50:58] <abaumann> yeah, usually I do, but I'm not super motivated for Python..
[16:51:09] <abaumann> ..it's a necesary evil to build "modern" software..
[17:46:19] -!- ConSiGno has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
[17:56:20] <abaumann> So, I get to a python-setuptools python-ordered-set python-pyproject-hooks loop now.. but this looks solvable. I made a python-bootstrap package and I'll remove the other bootstrap packages. I'm also patching directly in the packages to remove depends like python-installer, then adding a makedepends python-bootstrap till I'm over the cycles of the bootstrap packages..
[17:56:32] <abaumann> ..then rebuilds can happen normally again (I hope - TM)
[18:03:08] <abaumann> Mmh. I throw away bootstrapping stuff for python2..
