[17:53:35] <girls> but to actually answer your question: yes, i386 is eol - but I believe, even debian does not support it (anymore)

[17:57:32] <girls> the hard part with i486 is, that we don't have a reliably booting install disk for i486
[17:57:57] <girls> so the installation is mostly "hook up the hdd somewhere else, install it from a different host system, put the hdd back, boot"

[18:01:54] <girls> that's mainly an issue of the bootloader, which should be independent of the target architecture (i.e. it should work like dualboot grub on x86_64)
