[09:22:12] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[09:22:13] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[09:22:13] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> ah, cool beans, taking back all my rants (as usual)
[09:22:29] <abaumann> mmh, build-support disappeared on the buildmaster (mirror)
[09:22:36] <abaumann> and also libstdc++ and libgcc
[09:22:43] <abaumann> Something is completely broken.
[09:23:29] <abaumann> I cannot even rebuild a gcc toolchain this way
[09:24:21] <abaumann> or is libstdc++ and libgcc now suddenly part of gcc itself?
[09:25:31] <abaumann> oh. spdlog is most likely just completely borked

[13:58:20] <yang3> I get this warning when trying to "modprobe usb8xxx" module. https://paste.debian.net The content of the firmware inside /lib/firmware/libertas/ is https://termbin.com . I am interested if the files would need to be named like usb8388_olpc.bin instead of usb8388_olpc.bin.zst (regarding the warning)?
[13:58:21] <phrik> Title: Debian Pastezone (at paste.debian.net)
[14:01:53] <KitsuWhooa> it's .bin.zst because it's compressed
[14:02:05] <KitsuWhooa> if it can't load it, it's because your kernel is not compiled with zstd support
[14:02:28] <KitsuWhooa> you either have to compile the kernel with zstd support, or decompress the bin files manually
[14:09:28] <yang3> I see
[14:20:01] -!- drathir_tor has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[14:20:20] <yang3> zcat /proc/config.gz | grep -i CONFIG_KERNEL_ZSTD
[14:20:29] <yang3> i don't seem to have a /proc/config.gz
[14:30:30] <yang3> mkinitcpio.conf https://termbin.com
[14:30:54] <yang3> it seems "commented" in front of COMPRESSION "zstd"
[14:31:09] <yang3> do I remove #
[14:31:18] <yang3> and recompile?
[14:31:23] <KitsuWhooa> that's not for firmware
[14:31:25] <KitsuWhooa> that's for the initramfs
[14:31:39] <yang3> ah
[14:31:58] -!- drathir_tor has joined #archlinux32
[14:51:46] <yang3> my sha256sum of the usb8388_olpc.bin is the same as https://archlinux32.andreasbaumann.cc (which supposedly works)
[14:52:10] <yang3> so i dunno why it doent load at this point
[14:52:34] <yang3> "modporbe usb8xxx" loads it , but as mentioned, with some errors/warning
[14:52:49] <KitsuWhooa> maybe it expects to find the firmware in the initramfs?
[14:52:55] <yang3> yes
[14:52:56] <KitsuWhooa> have you tried running mkinitcpio after decompressing?
[14:53:02] <yang3> no i havent
[14:53:24] <KitsuWhooa> you might have to explicitly add the firmware files in the initramfs
[14:53:38] <KitsuWhooa> I don't remember how arch works in that regard
[14:53:52] <yang3> so I decompress all /lib/firmware/libertas/usb8*.bin.zst into just .bin
[14:54:02] <yang3> and run mkinitcpio afterwards?
[14:54:54] <yang3> I guess I also need to remove the # in front of the COMPRESSION "zstd" in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf?
[14:54:59] <KitsuWhooa> no
[14:55:07] <KitsuWhooa> doing that might make your system no longer boot
[14:56:03] <KitsuWhooa> Read through https://wiki.archlinux.org to see how/if you need to add the binary files/path manually
[14:56:04] <phrik> Title: mkinitcpio - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)
[14:56:16] <KitsuWhooa> I don't remember how the hooks work
[14:56:45] <yang3> ok
