[15:38:01] <deep42thought> Polichronucci: Would it be ok for you to set up the build master on your vps?
[15:40:09] <Polichronucci> yeah no problem
[15:40:25] <deep42thought> ok
[15:40:51] <deep42thought> do you want to host the master mirror, too, or should I keep it, where it is now
[15:41:52] <deep42thought> in the latter case I'd need you ssh key, so you can mount the mirror-directory via sshfs
[15:42:03] <deep42thought> (the public key, of course :-D)
[15:42:34] <Polichronucci> :P
[15:47:03] <Polichronucci> I could add a drive to host the mirror
[15:47:28] <Polichronucci> do you pay for the hosting right now?
[15:47:32] <deep42thought> nope
[15:47:40] <deep42thought> it's a server at the university
[15:47:47] <Polichronucci> oh ok
[15:47:59] <Polichronucci> so there is no real need to change it
[15:47:59] <deep42thought> some quite overqualified server for its actual job
[15:48:03] <deep42thought> yes
[15:48:15] <deep42thought> I'm just not comfortable with giving away ssh-access
[15:48:21] <deep42thought> but sftp would be fine
[15:48:50] <Polichronucci> archlinuxarm does it the other way around
[15:49:04] <Polichronucci> the actual master mirror connects to all the others
[15:49:08] <Polichronucci> via rsync
[15:49:40] <Polichronucci> if packages are signed the is no real need for tighter security
[15:50:42] -!- Faalagorn has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[15:50:51] <deep42thought> but to work the other way round, we'd need to keep a really-up-to-date mirror list
[15:51:22] <deep42thought> ah, you mean the build process
[15:52:02] <deep42thought> the idea of the different approach was, that anyone (who is involved) could contribute computing power at any rate he likes
[15:52:29] <deep42thought> if you need the cpu hours yourself, just don't connect and request build orders
[15:54:03] <Polichronucci> no I was talking about the mirror syncing process, not the building process
[15:54:28] <deep42thought> ok, sry
[15:54:32] <Polichronucci> the master mirror is responsible to connect and sync to all other mirrors via rsync
[15:54:43] <deep42thought> yes, i know
[15:54:55] <Polichronucci> ah perfect :D
[15:55:01] <deep42thought> but it still needs to host everything (at least temporarily)
[15:55:19] <deep42thought> and it's really not a big issue for me to host it
[15:55:25] <deep42thought> rsync is available and works
[15:55:35] <Polichronucci> yes, I was referring to what you said about sftp access to your server
[15:56:11] <deep42thought> ah, that would be for the master build server to push built packages
[15:56:27] <Polichronucci> ah sorry
[15:56:30] <Polichronucci> my bad
[15:56:35] <deep42thought> np
[15:57:18] <deep42thought> so the build slave has to report back to the build master (so the master can keep track of build processes) and also sends back the built packages
[15:57:31] <deep42thought> but the build master does not necessarily need to host the package itself
[15:57:55] <deep42thought> it can also push it to the actual mirror master
[15:58:15] <Polichronucci> ok I get it now
[16:01:14] <Polichronucci> I need to go now, would I find everything I need to setup the build-master in the repo?
[16:01:43] <deep42thought> the scripts yes, but there are some instructions which only exist in my head currently
[16:01:51] <Polichronucci> hehe :P
[16:01:57] <deep42thought> but no need to rush (I'm not online over the weekend)
[16:03:03] <Polichronucci> ok I will check out the scripts and we stay in touch
[16:05:03] <deep42thought> k, cu later!
