[13:36:25] <deep42thought> Hmm, pacman is too stupid for the *-nocheck approach.
[13:37:30] <deep42thought> even though, there is a package (pango-perl-nocheck) which is installable and satisfies the dependency (pango-perl) for the current build (gtk2-perl), it is not installed, because pacman sees pango-perl first
[13:37:53] <deep42thought> however, this causes a conflict, because the current ("old") version wants a old version of perl, too
[13:38:44] <deep42thought> so I would need to list the build-support repository _first_ in the pacman.conf, but I think, that might be a bad idea, considering the nature of the packages therein
[13:42:33] <rewbycraft> Well
[13:42:42] <rewbycraft> You can modify the PKGBUILD of gtk2-per
[13:42:46] <rewbycraft> *gtk2-perl
[13:42:57] <rewbycraft> And have it explicitly builddepend on -nocheck
[13:43:02] <deep42thought> but then I will build a package depending on *-nocheck
[13:43:09] <rewbycraft> Hm, true
[13:43:10] <deep42thought> it's a runtime dependency
[13:43:12] <rewbycraft> Ah
[13:43:24] <rewbycraft> Well, you may need to list build-support first
[13:43:33] <rewbycraft> Or have a thing so your script installs -nocheck explicitly first
[13:43:35] <rewbycraft> And then builds
[13:43:49] <deep42thought> I could resort to moving build-support if a normal build fails first
[13:43:59] <deep42thought> sry, that wasn't a sentence
[13:44:09] <deep42thought> I could first try to build w/o build-support
[13:44:11] <rewbycraft> I think having your script "manually" install -nocheck should just work.
[13:44:17] <deep42thought> and if that fails, I activate it as first repo
[13:44:26] <deep42thought> which "script"?
[13:44:30] <rewbycraft> The build slave
[13:44:34] <rewbycraft> It's bash no?
[13:44:47] <deep42thought> it calls "staging-i686-build"
[13:44:52] <rewbycraft> Ah
[13:44:53] <deep42thought> and that sets up a chroot, ...
[13:44:57] <rewbycraft> All right
[13:45:03] <rewbycraft> That idea goes out the window then
[13:45:14] <rewbycraft> Yeah, trying without -nocheck and then with build-support on fail could work
[13:49:20] <deep42thought> I'll give it a shot
[13:56:47] <deep42thought> btw: I made a nice overview of pending problems there: https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org
[13:57:14] <deep42thought> everything with an empty last column can be investigated by someone :-)
[13:57:27] <rewbycraft> Has the buildmaster been stable, btw?
[13:57:39] <deep42thought> what layer?
[13:57:41] <rewbycraft> I had a warning about the edgerouter on that cluster dying for a minute this morning
[13:57:55] <rewbycraft> So there were a few minutes without internet while it reconnected
[13:58:12] <deep42thought> it sometimes hangs a little (few (<5) seconds), but I'm used to than on vps's
[13:58:20] <rewbycraft> Hm. It shouldn't
[13:58:22] <rewbycraft> But I know why
[13:58:26] <deep42thought> haven't noticed a reconnect or anything
[13:58:27] * rewbycraft shakes fist at disks
[13:58:39] <rewbycraft> that system runs on some old spinning rust
[13:58:44] <rewbycraft> And they get overwhelmed easily
[13:58:47] <deep42thought> don't shake too hard or they'll loose all bits
[13:59:01] <rewbycraft> Redundant array, it'll take it
[13:59:24] <deep42thought> if you shake them all at the same time, they might break all at the same time ;-)
[13:59:27] <rewbycraft> True
[13:59:46] <rewbycraft> Still, they get overloaded easily on seek time
[14:00:00] <rewbycraft> With the amount of vms on there, they're prone to thrashing if multiple machines are trying stuff
[14:00:14] <deep42thought> np, usually it runs fine
[14:00:56] -!- brtln_logger has quit [Quit: WeeChat 1.7.1]
[14:03:08] -!- brtl_n has joined #archlinux-ports
[14:03:57] <rewbycraft> It's not a super fancy system
[14:04:05] <rewbycraft> Okay, well, the software is fancy
[14:04:07] <rewbycraft> The hardware isn't
[14:04:15] <rewbycraft> So that kinda stuff happens sometimes
[14:10:06] -!- Faalagorn has joined #archlinux-ports
[14:53:55] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[15:06:11] -!- Cthulu201 has quit [Quit: WeeChat 1.9]

[16:25:50] -!- p71 has joined #archlinux-ports
[16:31:21] <deep42thought> hmm, pacman still prefers "extra/pango-perl-1.227-2-i686" over "build-support/pango-perl-nocheck-1.227-4" :-(
[16:33:37] <deep42thought> it seems, packages named x are prefered over ones just "providing" x ...
[16:34:31] <deep42thought> but anyway, I have to leave now, I'll be back on Sunday evening (UTC)
[16:34:34] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[16:34:42] <rewbycraft> deep42thought: Idea: Instead of calling the build-support pkg -nocheck, just make it's pkgrel 0.5 That way pacman should prefer it over the one in extra/
