[18:04:18] <acnut> Hi everyone, been trying to find a stable 32bit linux dist to join. So sad to find that archlinux no longer support 32bit officially. Very thankful for you guys though
[18:04:31] <deep42thought> :-)
[18:05:39] <deep42thought> hopefully we can keep alive the "stable" :-D
[18:06:32] <acnut> BTW, love the commandline install. I have a laptop that boots only from disc. Most gui iso's don't like booting from a harddrive and installing to the same harddrive.
[18:07:22] <guys> acnut: you're welcome :)
[18:07:42] <acnut> welp, thats why i'm here. I want to volunteer and give back to the community.
[18:08:31] <deep42thought> sry, I have to leave now, but you can have a look at https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org and https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org

[18:09:25] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[18:09:36] <acnut> k cya
[18:10:33] <guys> If you need to you can leave a message for deep42thought BTW, he will see it in the channel logs
[18:13:45] <tyzoid> same with me, btw.
[18:16:27] <acnut> got it. i'll poke around. i'm mostly experienced with embedded stuff. not familiar with building packages, but i'll give it a shot.
[19:02:10] -!- nullmark has quit [Ping timeout: 264 seconds]
[19:02:50] <tyzoid> acnut: abaumann was working on getting arch on i486, I'm sure he could use your help if that's more up your wheelhouse.
[19:09:54] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[19:09:57] <abaumann> acnut: ah.. embedded, cross-compilation, I hear. :-)
[19:10:08] <tyzoid> lol
[19:10:19] <abaumann> like a blood hound. :->
[19:10:22] <tyzoid> the man has heeded my beckoning
[19:10:52] <tyzoid> that's a wonderful sense of grep, you have there ;)
[19:11:16] <abaumann> naeh. just coinsidence. testing and stabilizing some pakets.. so I read the log.
[19:11:23] <tyzoid> yeah
[19:13:53] -!- oaken-source has quit [Quit: leaving]
[19:31:38] <fsckd> for a moment i thought tyzoid could call people without without a summoning circle
[19:32:06] <tyzoid> I can, it just takes a lot of energy.
[19:34:05] <acnut> :) hmm i just tried compiling sbcl on a fresh install of archlinux32 * make: Leaving directory '/home/acnut/p/sbcl/contrib/sb-sprof'
[19:34:08] <acnut> real 1m31.367s
[19:34:11] <acnut> user 1m24.119s
[19:34:13] <acnut> sys 0m6.813s
[19:34:16] <acnut> The build seems to have finished successfully, including 18 (out of 18)
[19:34:18] <acnut> contributed modules. If you would like to run more extensive tests on
[19:34:21] <acnut> the new SBCL, you can try:
[19:34:23] <acnut> cd tests && sh ./run-tests.sh
[19:34:26] <acnut> (All tests should pass on x86/Linux, x86/FreeBSD4, and ppc/Darwin. On
[19:34:28] <acnut> other platforms some failures are currently expected; patches welcome
[19:34:31] <acnut> as always.)
[19:34:33] <acnut> To build documentation:
[19:34:36] <acnut> cd doc/manual && make
[19:34:38] <acnut> To install SBCL (more information in INSTALL):
[19:34:41] <acnut> sh install.sh
[19:34:43] <acnut> //build started: Fri Dec 8 09:34:35 PST 2017
[19:34:55] <tyzoid> !give acnut paste
[19:34:57] <phrik> acnut: Paste short snippets (up to 3 lines) in channel. Please do NOT use pastebin.com -- some good, sane paste services are https://ptpb.pw https://bpaste.net and https://gist.github.com. See !ptpb for an easy way to paste from a pipe.
[19:35:21] <acnut> oops sorry
[19:35:25] <tyzoid> no problem.
[19:35:43] <acnut> running the test script right now
[19:35:45] <tyzoid> abaumann: Do you recall where the sbcl thing left off?
[19:37:23] <acnut> from what i saw in the forum, deep was building 1.4.0.239
[19:39:56] <acnut> that was on 10/30. i just cloned from HEAD.
[19:40:39] <acnut> build using sbcl 1.3.20-1
[19:42:42] <tyzoid> Nice. Might be that they fixed some stuff that hasn't been "released" yet.
[19:43:02] <tyzoid> deep42thought ^
[19:52:20] <acnut> abaumann: nice to meet ya
[19:53:36] <acnut> abaumann: yeah, lots of fun trying to mod stuff from QCOM
[19:54:40] <acnut> running on linux gave me an edge over my windoze coworkers :P
[20:01:20] <abaumann> tyzoid: sbcl, deep42thought dealt with it some time ago.
[20:01:33] <abaumann> something with bootstrapping itself with itself or so..
[20:01:37] <abaumann> acnut: hi :-)
[20:01:51] <tyzoid> nice
[20:02:21] <abaumann> normal. see GNAT/ADA. It's normal to write a compiler/interpreter in the same language.
[20:02:41] <abaumann> but nice ones you can bootstrap from a mini C-version of the language..
[20:03:00] <abaumann> ..or another language of course. :-)
[20:03:21] <tyzoid> then the struggle is to bootstrap a c compiler
[20:03:44] <abaumann> nope. not at all. :-)
[20:04:14] <abaumann> sblc. ah. there is FS32#5.
[20:04:31] <abaumann> it opens a debugger and waits for input.. very handy in automatic build systems. :-)
[20:05:17] <acnut> abaumann: deep compiled using clisp "completes stage 1 and fails at stage 2"
[20:06:52] <abaumann> I'm by no means an expert in LISP, sorry.
[20:07:09] <abaumann> stage 2 is stage 2 of bootstrapping then?

[20:07:46] <phrik> Title: sbcl / Creating/Maintaining Packages / Arch Linux 32 Forums (at bbs.archlinux32.org)
[20:08:13] <abaumann> there is the whole history..
[20:10:58] <abaumann> AFK
[20:14:16] <acnut> welp test finished successfully. "17 tests skipped for this build/platform"
[20:16:41] <brtln> have you managed to rebuild clisp and js185?
[20:16:52] <brtln> these two are failing to build with PIE/relro enabled toolchain
[20:17:04] <brtln> just trying to cut some corners if you figured it out already :)
[20:19:07] <abaumann> brtln: ah. mayme dmd is also a victim of that..
[20:22:24] <acnut> brtln: nope, i went with sbcl v1.3.20 since it was available. was able to build 1.4.2-d71977a7d

[23:17:53] <tyzoid> wb
[23:19:01] <deep42thought> hi
[23:19:20] <deep42thought> but I guess I'm also too tired to actually accomplish something :-/
[23:19:39] <tyzoid> lol
[23:19:46] <tyzoid> sounds like a normal friday night, then.
