[08:43:37] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[08:44:26] <abaumann> TomTheDragon: you where right, the machine is a 486 and they where all (but a few expections) ISA-based (or EISA or MCA).
[08:44:51] <abaumann> So, mine has a First International Computer motherboard 486-DBA
[08:45:04] <abaumann> the chip says: Accton/UNISYS UK0022 with NE2000 interface
[08:45:25] <abaumann> In DOS I have to specify the IRQ and the IO-port manually, so it's an ISA card.
[08:46:27] -!- abaumann has quit [Quit: leaving]
[09:22:37] -!- bill-auger has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[09:25:16] -!- bill-auger has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:28:18] -!- myops has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:29:29] <myops> Where can I find the build scripts for archlinux32 gpgme?
[09:33:30] <myops> How is asp32 suppsoed to be installed? Is there a PKGBUILD?
[10:13:02] -!- bill-auger has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[10:26:40] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[10:27:03] <abaumann> myops: asp32 is at the moment a copy of asp, nothing is adapted for Archlinux32 yet
[10:27:23] <abaumann> installation will happen via the AUR or we'll have it somewhere in the build support repos, I think.
[10:28:39] <abaumann> What do you mean by build scripts? There is a repository git@github.com:archlinux32/packages.git where the diffs from Archlinux to Archlinux32 are managed.
[10:29:07] <abaumann> gpgme is the same on Archlinux and Archlinux32, so if you want to recompile it you just have to adapt arch=(i686)
[10:29:56] <abaumann> and take the PKGBUILD from upstream.
[10:30:14] -!- abaumann has quit [Client Quit]
[11:22:43] -!- bill-auger has joined #archlinux-ports

[11:33:47] -!- alyptik has joined #archlinux-ports
[12:18:35] <myops> Okay, that was helpful.
[12:19:44] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[12:20:09] <abaumann> deep42thought: I had to symlink ln -s libx264.so.152 libx264.so.148 for mplayer.
[12:20:19] <abaumann> maybe we should rebuild mplayer.
[12:44:47] -!- abaumann has quit [Quit: leaving]
[13:07:04] -!- myops has quit [Quit: eof]
[13:09:04] <buildmaster> vlc is broken (says buildknecht).
[13:20:21] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[13:22:10] <abaumann> vlc patches have appeared upstream now, removed them now.
[14:24:11] -!- shentey has joined #archlinux-ports
[15:17:00] -!- deep42thought has joined #archlinux-ports
[15:20:21] <deep42thought> abaumann: the mplayer issue was in extra?
[15:22:13] <deep42thought> btw, we have asp in extra for i686 - which is our asp32 - and there is asp32 in archlinuxewe for x86_64
[15:22:28] <deep42thought> but as you said: the difference is yet marginal
[15:23:02] <deep42thought> I used the same concept as for archiso and devtools

[20:18:50] <daniman> Hey guys where can i get Skype?
[20:19:25] <deep42thought> is it in aur for x86_64?
[20:19:30] <eschwartz> From the makers of skye
[20:19:34] <eschwartz> * skype
[20:19:48] <daniman> eschwartz: nice one
[20:20:01] <daniman> deep42thought: skype-legacy?
[20:20:26] <deep42thought> looks like that's skype
[20:20:36] <deep42thought> so just compile and install it, then :-)
[20:20:55] <deep42thought> it even has i686 in the arch array :-)
[20:20:56] <eschwartz> daniman: there are several packages relating to skype in the AUR...
[20:22:05] <daniman> deep42thought: eschwartz : i wasn't sure it supports Screen Sharing( the main reason i am installing it)
[20:22:20] <daniman> but why not in the official repo, i can remeber it was there
[20:22:48] -!- guys has joined #archlinux-ports
[20:23:07] <eschwartz> daniman: I don't think so, proprietary binaries are something we usually try to avoid adding.
[20:24:11] <daniman> eschwartz: why?
[20:24:22] <daniman> eschwartz: legal issues?
[20:25:50] -!- oaken-source has quit [Quit: leaving]
[20:25:54] <eschwartz> Partially that, yeah -- custom licenses rarely make it clear-cut that distros can redistribute the binaries.
[20:26:41] <eschwartz> Partially because in an open-source community, proprietary binaries "smell" a bit, and we don't want to sanction them by putting them in the official repos when the AUR is already available for this.
[20:28:16] <daniman> eschwartz: Oh i see, and someone from the community emailed for permission from the devs.
[20:28:59] <daniman> so other distros can't redisribute from the AUR?
[20:29:02] <eschwartz> I honestly have no idea. Maybe someone did.
[20:29:53] <eschwartz> The AUR has an excellent legal standing because it doesn't redistribute anything. It only provides instructions as to how to get the official sanctioned downloads from the official sanctioned sites.
[20:31:30] <daniman> eschwartz: ow, Thanks for the insight!
[20:32:15] <eschwartz> Sure thing :)
[20:56:52] <brtln> we had the old skype in repos but it was a mess impossible to cooperate with system-wide qt4
[20:57:00] <brtln> and with lack of development anyway, we removed it
[21:06:15] -!- shentey has joined #archlinux-ports
[21:20:47] -!- daniman has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
[22:14:08] <TomTheDragon> Skype is only available for AMD64, the IA32 binaries are old and will not connect.
[22:14:54] <TomTheDragon> So if it was removed, there is totally no reason for it to exist anymore.
[22:21:47] -!- alyptik has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
