[07:18:53] <deep42thought> rewbycraft: ipv6 routing seems broken on the buildmaster
[07:19:56] <deep42thought> ... which seems to break the buildmaster's irc client
[07:25:33] -!- oaken-source has joined #archlinux-ports
[07:46:27] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[08:51:57] -!- deep42thought has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:06:44] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:06:56] <deep42thought> Good morning, abaumann
[09:10:51] <abaumann> hi. :-)
[09:20:11] <deep42thought> the new power supply didn't repair my box :-(
[09:25:08] <abaumann> mmh..
[09:26:13] <abaumann> me on the other hand: a Intel SE7501WV2S machine always doing silly things and being quite slow on centos 6 is kicking brilliantly on Archlinux32. :-)
[09:26:31] <deep42thought> :-)
[09:26:43] <abaumann> the machine is too loud for your home office though. :-)
[09:29:15] <deep42thought> nah
[09:29:22] <deep42thought> you don't know my fileserver
[09:46:35] -!- titus_livius has joined #archlinux-ports
[09:51:20] -!- yans has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[09:58:01] <deep42thought> I put together ~20 hard disks plus a few large fans to cool them and run it as a file server in my corridor @home
[10:26:01] <abaumann> dry file server.. :-)
[10:26:30] <deep42thought> well, one could also cool with water ...
[10:28:53] -!- titus_livius has joined #archlinux-ports
[10:29:18] -!- titus_livius has joined #archlinux-ports
[10:30:23] <deep42thought> systemd breaks nslcd - it starts, but is not recognized by systemd and is thus killed after 30 seconds
[10:30:40] <deep42thought> I have now 30 seconds to log in, before the nslcd authentication does not work anymore ...
[10:30:55] <deep42thought> to downgrade systemd again :-)
[10:30:59] -!- titus_livius has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[10:31:23] <abaumann> that's the problem with systemd: they implementent only half of the stuff half-heartedly..
[10:31:41] -!- titus_livius has joined #archlinux-ports
[10:31:50] <deep42thought> nah, actually it's the problem, that they assume everyone follows the line exactly
[10:32:29] <deep42thought> the problem is, nslcd has its pid file in /var/run/nslcd/nslcd.pid, the file is owned by root, the dir by nslcd, and this is considered unsafe by systemd
[10:32:32] <abaumann> and authentication has tons of competing systems like pam, sasl, krb5, gssapi, nls, etc.
[10:32:46] <abaumann> rightfully so
[10:32:54] <deep42thought> yes
[10:33:05] <deep42thought> but apparently not all daemons follow this
[10:33:14] <deep42thought> and now systemd fails for such daemons
[10:33:16] <abaumann> this whole stuff with pidfiles is quite unnecessary if you have a master daemon like systemd controlling the daemons.
[10:33:46] <abaumann> maybe you can disable the pid file of nslcd
[10:33:55] <abaumann> or start it in the foreground inside a systemd daemon.
[10:34:11] <deep42thought> yeah, I could do that
[10:34:23] <deep42thought> but I'd rather keep the original systemd unit file
[10:34:32] <deep42thought> I have too many modifications already :-)
[10:34:39] <abaumann> ah. fair enough. :-)
[10:57:08] -!- buildmaster has joined #archlinux-ports
[10:57:14] <deep42thought> buildmaster: welcome back!
[11:54:46] * buildmaster refuses to blacklist 5863 packages.
[11:54:46] <buildmaster> packages: e748bedfa0b124c45be3dfa016c69a4b12485b57 -> 257002f03007072006a0f149c288e23fdfd4139e
[11:54:46] <buildmaster> community: db478fad07656332edbdf42e7eb2b70aafeebc08 -> 055b34526d65e16f78b8a22951efe6ce466bf546
[11:56:06] <abaumann> wow!
[11:56:43] <deep42thought> unfortunately, he blacklisted everything in the database, already
[11:57:04] <deep42thought> ... the check comes right at the end, but the database is updated permanently
[11:57:36] <abaumann> so.. you have to clean the db by hand?
[11:57:46] <deep42thought> yes
[11:58:06] <deep42thought> that's what https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org is for
[11:58:07] <phrik> Title: sanity of the buildmaster's mysql database (at buildmaster.archlinux32.org)
[11:58:09] <deep42thought> ... currently
[11:58:20] <deep42thought> in the future, this file should be simply empty ...
[11:58:21] <abaumann> ok vey. :-)
[11:58:25] <abaumann> *oj
[11:58:37] <deep42thought> huh what?
[11:58:47] <abaumann> jiddish: oj vey.
[11:58:52] <deep42thought> ah
[11:59:41] <abaumann> I'm in the second round of stage1 building on i486. see, if the make problem disappeared..
[12:00:06] <abaumann> installing on the ARM K-6 without modules, ramdisk, systemd, pacstrap goes well, the machine boots. :-)
[12:01:01] <deep42thought> hmm, the mentioned updates should _not_ cause all packages to be black listed
[12:01:09] <deep42thought> yippie, I broke something (again)
[12:01:28] <abaumann> happy fixing. :-)
[12:01:31] <abaumann> me off for lunch.
[12:01:36] <deep42thought> cu
[12:01:40] <abaumann> cu
[12:01:43] <abaumann> AFK
[13:11:10] <buildmaster> pandoc is broken (says buildknecht3).
[13:13:00] <deep42thought> abaumann: a colleague asked me if we're interested in an old 4/86 - are you interested?
[13:13:16] <deep42thought> 4mb ram, 1GB hdd, 30MHz
[13:19:51] -!- |ast| has joined #archlinux-ports
[13:31:20] <buildmaster> linux-hardened is broken (says buildknecht3).
[13:31:36] <deep42thought> something _is_ wrong with the blacklisting ...
[13:36:02] * buildmaster goes insane.
[13:38:40] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
[13:38:46] <deep42thought> at least
[14:36:03] * buildmaster goes insane.
[14:46:27] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
[14:46:48] <deep42thought> sry for the noise - I'm trying to get all the dependencies into the database
[14:47:13] <deep42thought> and the easies way seemed to me, to schedule all packages for build (also the deletion-list packages) just to remove them afterwards
[14:47:18] <deep42thought> (but not their dependencies)
[15:11:47] <buildmaster> audience is broken (says buildknecht2).
[15:23:23] -!- |ast| has quit [Quit: leaving]
[15:30:04] * bill-auger wonders if it was necessary to specify the word "old" beside "486"
[15:30:14] <deep42thought> :-D
[15:56:40] <abaumann> deep42thought: mmh, how big is it? Is is a desktop computer?
[15:56:48] <deep42thought> tower :-/
[15:56:53] <abaumann> ui.
[15:57:12] <abaumann> 4 mb should be expandable..
[16:02:14] <abaumann> Mmh. postgresql.pid, same problem with systemd.. :-(
[16:02:45] <deep42thought> at least, you have heard of that problem before :-)
[16:03:05] <abaumann> yeah, thanks. because postgresql simply hangs when starting up.
[16:03:22] <abaumann> would be a puzzle otherwise. :-)
[16:03:23] <deep42thought> you mean "systemctl start postgresql" hangs
[16:03:30] <abaumann> yes.
[16:03:36] <deep42thought> postgresql should run fine in the meantime
[16:03:38] <abaumann> and errors about wrong permissions of pid.
[16:03:43] <abaumann> huh?
[16:03:43] <deep42thought> right
[16:03:44] <abaumann> ok.
[16:03:49] <deep42thought> yes, it runs fine
[16:03:53] <abaumann> I'm on ARM Archlinux..
[16:03:56] <deep42thought> until systemd times out and kills it
[16:04:12] <deep42thought> at least, that's, what I saw with nslcd
[16:04:29] <abaumann> postgresql.service: Permission denied while opening PID file or unsafe symlink chain: /var/lib/postgres/data/postmaster.pid
[16:04:36] <deep42thought> yes
[16:04:48] <abaumann> aha. You can no longer put the data directory on a symlinked drive. handy, really. :-)
[16:04:49] <deep42thought> do a "pgrep -af postgresql"
[16:09:30] <abaumann> So: fixed: PIDFile=/data/pgsql/data/postgresql.pid and Environment=PGROOT=/data/pgsql helped.
[16:09:39] <abaumann> in postgresql.service
[16:09:50] <abaumann> Feb 08 16:09:44 euroserver systemd[1]: bacula-dir.service: Can't open PID file /run/bacula/bacula-dir.9101.pid (yet?) after start: No such file or directory
[16:10:21] <abaumann> cool :-)
[16:11:45] <abaumann> I would like to have a second 486.. I'm just afraid, I will run out of space to stowe it away.. :-)
[16:12:20] <deep42thought> hmm
[16:12:24] <deep42thought> serious concern
[16:12:48] <abaumann> how big is big?
[16:12:59] <deep42thought> I think, it's a big tower :-/
[16:13:02] <deep42thought> let me ask ...
[16:13:19] <abaumann> impressive computing needs impressive dimensions. ;-)
[16:14:26] <deep42thought> yep, it's an usual atx big tower
[16:14:42] <deep42thought> but maybe you can compress it somewhat if you/we remove the case?
[16:14:55] <abaumann> like in a car press. ;-)
[16:14:59] <deep42thought> yeah
[16:15:16] <abaumann> but shipping that to Switzerland is quite expensive..
[16:15:27] <deep42thought> might be
[16:15:39] <abaumann> I have a post office in Germany, in Jestetten.. :->
[16:16:14] <abaumann> It's cheaper to send it there and then I go there to fetch a computer (and some good beers)..
[16:16:49] <deep42thought> yeah
[16:16:59] <deep42thought> it's like 9€ instead of 50€
[16:17:23] <abaumann> exactly.
[16:26:02] * buildmaster goes insane.
[16:27:20] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
