[00:24:40] <ccromer> hello, I was looking for some info on how the upgrades to the toolchain are handled. I am trying to update mpfr from 3.1 to 4.0 and after updating mpfr gcc can no longer be used since it was built again the previous mpfr libs
[00:26:05] <guys> 06:25 PM <guys> Well, basically you need the old mpfr libs to run gcc, and the new libs to build against, so basically copy them outside of the package manager...
[00:26:07] <guys> 06:26 PM <guys> or create a temporary package just for the libs, sort of like the ncurses compat libs in the AUR which just install old sonames and nothing else.
[00:26:13] <guys> So yeah, basically --with-mpfr
[00:26:45] <guys> I guess the resulting package is then used to rebuild gcc and mpfr "properly"
